Vintage Baby Bonnet (Pixie Hat)

Vintage Baby Bonnet (Pixie Hat)
So I had been seeing these hats on etsy and really wanted to make one but couldn't find a 'new' free pattern that I liked. Then I came across this http://www.antiquecrochetpatterns.com/crochet-bonnet.html. First written in 1915 so I had no idea what size hook to use or ply of yarn. I have recently found out that the yarn they used was 2 ply. Anyways I used a 3.50mm hook and 8ply yarn and it came out in a size that should fit a 1-2 year old. Obviously I didn't do the fold over and added braids. I did 14 rows in the purple and 3 in the white. The pattern for the rose can be found here http://the-dark-knit.blogspot.co.nz/2008/11/crochet-roses.html.

  1. I can't figure out the pattern for this. Here's my problem. In the below instructions does "miss 3 ch," mean skip three? Then

1st Row - Miss 3 ch., 3 tr. in the next stitch, miss 3 ch., 1 d.c. in the next, *3 ch.,(DOES THIS 3 ch MEAN TO SKIP 3 CHAINS OR TO STITCH) 3 more chains ???? 3 tr. in the same stitch as that into which the d.c. was worked, miss 3 ch., 1 d.c. in the next, repeat from ch., 1 d.c. in the next, *3 ch., 3 tr. in the same stitch as that into which the d.c. was worked, miss 3 ch., 1 d.c. in the next, repeat from *

I don't know if I'm making sense with my question but is there an easier way for you to write the pattern for me? I'm kinda illiterate in this stuff.
